FBU Executive update 21st September 2009
Berkshire FBU Members,
Please find below some of the policies/working groups that the FBU is currently or has recently been consulted upon -
1. Windsor IRMP – proposed shift changes to Windsor.
2. Retained Viability Review – not yet started. Your opinions needed on desired outcomes.
3. Hearing Policy – new policy. A selection of workplace assessments have been agreed. These are now repeatable and quantifiable with the previous competentcy-based elements removed.
4. Driving Speed Limit Policy - looking at both non-blue light driving and how we respond to incidents.
5. Performance & Ability in the Workplace Policy – RBFRS has withdrawn its proposal to dismiss personnel following a single instance of severe poor performance affecting H&S. Minor revisions are being considered.
6. Alcohol and Drugs in the Workplace Policy – not yet started. Random testing to be considered.
7. Optimisation of Crewing Policy – minor revisions.
8. RSV – proposals for Stn 4s new vehicle/RTC provision and PDAs.
9 CIU – move from CIU to palletized Hazmat and Environmental Response Unit for trial period.
The list goes on…and naturally Regional Controls are very much on the agenda. The FBU has organized a rally at Westminster on October 21st. You are all cordially invited! Please contact us if you wish to go.
The Brigade FBU is also heavily involved in discipline and complaint investigations at the moment. Please bear this in mind if officials do not reply to your emails immediately.
Further information on any of the above is readily available. Please go through your Branch Secretary if possible to reduce the workload on the FBU Executive. Brigade officials are always willing to attend Branch meetings, but please give adequate notification.
Regards,
Mark Stollery Maurice Whyte
